The highlight of Pride Month is without a doubt, the Pride Parade on Saturday, 1st of July. Pride month in London kicks off in June to mark the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots. There is a bunch of after parties going on to keep an eye out for including the infamous Ministry of Sound party in Elephant & Castle which goes till 6 am!Ĥ. There’s a whole range of genres of Caribbean music you will hear, from steel pan bands and reggae to calypso and soca. The centrepiece of the festival is the lively and colourful procession ( Starts at Great Western Road continuing onto Chepstow Road, Westbourne Grove and then wrapping up at the north end of Ladbroke Grove ) with elaborate floats, colourful costumes, and of course, pulsating Caribbean music. The festival will takes place during the August Bank Holiday weekend, 27th till 28th August 2023 and will be spread over several neighbourhoods around W10 that include Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park. Notting Hill Carnivalįeaturing vibrant parades and music, the Notting Hill Carnival is the biggest street party in Europe ( second only to the carnival in Rio globally ) and is a fabulous celebration of London’s Caribbean culture and heritage. All of this and more is on offer at the show with a distinctively urban south London vibe. Sunday is “Roots Day” with ska, dub and reggae acts from across the globe. The Main Stage hosts an array of local and international talent on Saturday with funk, soul, disco and well known hits. The Village Green stage celebrates the rich diversity of talent from Lambeth, with a mix of musical genres featured, from folk and funk to soul and pop, as well as steel orchestras and choirs from the local community. It celebrates the best of the British countryside, where you can enjoy sheep shearing and owl displays, observe home grown vegetable and flower competitions, horse jousting and stunt shows plus there is even an on-site farm.
